ProAudit for automated network auditing.

ProAudit eliminate the often complex and hassle intensive process of conducting manual audit of network elements, sites, node, equipment and configuration lists, port utilization process and other processes that usually required the consolidation of multiple departmental and network data sources.

As a result the organisation save substantial time on labour intensive tasks and at the same time reduces redundant work as information becomes reliable and broadly available for the entire organisation.

ProAudit does this fully automated at a scheduled interval without the need of user intervention. A control application is used to configure and execute the auditing tasks and is also used to make sure that the audit is done successfully and that exceptions and discrepancies are identified and dealt with.

ProAudit is the module to synchronize the data in the ProManage database with other external data sources. The data sources can be from any type of link, such as:

• Links to other databases
• Procollector for access to the network
• Manual created data sources like Excel, Spreadsheets and Text files.

In each case ProAudit presents a set of data tables formatted for each Network Element data type, e.g. Nodes, Sites etc.

The user or system formats the data so in can fit into these input data tables and then you can initiate a series of audit runs to synchronize the data in the input data tables to the data in the ProManage database. This can be done fully automated or semi-automated with manual intervention or just use for comparing the datasets without any update.

As seen in the drawing below the update of the ProManage database tables is not done directly, but instead is done through a synchronization process where checkpoints are made to ensure that only approved updates are made to the database

This is to ensure that the database data is not erroneously updated with incorrect data.

It is though still recommended to make manual checks of data on a recurring basis, especially after an update, to ensure that wrong data has been introduced to the database. This will depend on the nature of the update and the quality of the audited data as well.
